WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AUGUST 29, 2017) – Attorney J. Dennis Bailey, a partner at Wall Babcock LLP, has been recognized by Best Lawyers as the 2018 “Lawyer of the Year” for Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants in the Winston-Salem/Greensboro metropolitan area.
Only a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year,” making this accolade particularly significant. These lawyers are selected based on particularly impressive voting averages received during the peer review assessments.
In addition to 2018, Bailey was recognized by Best Lawyers as “Lawyer of the Year” in 2016 and 2012. Three other partners at Wall Babcock were named “Lawyer of the Year” in past years: Jim Wall in 2012 for corporate law; John Babcock in 2017 for mergers and acquisitions and in 2016 and 2010 for corporate law; and Michael Drye in 2013 for mergers and acquisitions.
Receiving this designation reflects the high level of respect a lawyer has earned among other leading lawyers in the same communities and the same practice areas for their abilities, their professionalism, and their integrity. Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence.
Bailey has more than 30 years of litigation experience. He handles a broad range of litigation matters through trial and appellate review, including medical malpractice defense, business and banking disputes, premises liability claims, and serious personal injury claims. He also represents health care professionals in licensing board matters.
Prior to joining Wall Babcock, Bailey was a partner with Carruthers & Bailey, P.A., a Winston-Salem-based firm that he started with Joseph Carruthers in 2001. Preceding that, Bailey was a partner at the law firm of Bell, Davis & Pitt in Winston-Salem. Earlier in his career, Bailey served as a law clerk from 1985 to 1986 to The Honorable Frank Bullock, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
A native of Danville, Virginia, Bailey received a J.D. degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 1985 and a B.A. degree in philosophy/religion from Elon College in 1982. He has been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association since 1988, including the Litigation and Health Law Sections. Additionally, Bailey has been a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys since 2001.
Bailey is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has been AV rated by Martindale -Hubbell since 1999 and has been named to Best Lawyers every year since 2007.
